Co-curricular.

Fostering positive growth.

At Saint Peter’s we are fortunate to be surrounded by an area of outstanding natural beauty. Our rural location and proximity to facilities for sport, arts, culture and outdoor pursuits as well as connections within the local community will allow us to offer a wide range of activities and interests to continue development beyond the classroom. In our daily timetable we offer formal activities in the evening and at weekends. We will try to incorporate as many cultural trips and visits as possible throughout the year, organising field trips, gallery and museum visits, lectures and sports fixtures.

Sports

A broad range of sports are on offer at Saint Peter’s: football, rugby, tennis, athletics, canoeing, fencing, golf, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and many more. We will look to build up a fixtures list throughout the year in order to allow our pupils to compete against local schools.

Arts

Alongside the sporting element of the College, we will promote the arts and foster a passion for creativity, theatre and music. As the College grows we hope to develop our music facilities on site, but we have a partnership with the local school of music who will offer both private tuition for various instruments as well as providing the opportunity for any of the students to join more formally and to become a member of the celebrated Batterie-Fanfare.

The great outdoors

On the banks of the River Gartempe we have a wide range of outdoor activities for our pupils. We will look to engage with locals to provide rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, hunting, trail-running, hiking, canoeing, golfing and camping. We are in the process of registering with The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award to provide more opportunities to be challenged and positively develop.

The great indoors

In our boarding context we will be able to engage with the pupils when the French winter sets in. Most of the indoor activities are developed termly and respond to student interest. Activities can include digital projects, College blog, debating, the pre-university cooking club, schola, music club and so much more.

Working with the community

As part of our mission, we will encourage all of our pupils to engage with charitable projects in the local area and more further afield. To develop abilities in speaking French, the Houses will take it in turns to read to the old people in the Maison de Retraite Saint André. To promote a more international outreach we have offered support to H.Em. Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith for his educational project in Sri Lanka - supporting the prevention, cure and protection of those affected by leprosy.
